Day 20...nearly 3 weeks of a much healthier me!  The scale didn't move downward as quickly likely due to my cheats.  Although I knew this I had it reinforced in the past week.  I am very much a stress eater and love comfort food.  I also do better with mean green rather than more fruity juices.

Water is my friend...our bodies crave it though we misunderstand the signals and think we are hungry...  Drink your water people!!!
So going into my 3rd week I have lost 16 pounds! This is a work in progress.  Juice on !!!

Hump Day!

Though I thought it was Saturday this morning (sigh) I still jumped up with more energy than I have had in years.  Last night I was lazy and didn't make my juice, so I made due with one Naked Juice and 3 V-8's while at work.  Better choices, but not nearly as filling as home juiced!

Tonight I made 2 juices.  A new breakfast experiment and my mean green.  I am prepared for tomorrow.  The new juice is:
1 orange
4+ celery
2 apples
2 big handfuls of spinach
1 pint of strawberries.

I will reveal how it is tomorrow!

I am hoping to have a little weight loss this week even with my bad weekend.  Overall even though I am losing I am gaining so much more in health.

Go me!!!

Weekend Epic Fail

So Friday night and Saturday night were a bust for me.... Milio's veggie sub after the snow removal people pissed me off, can we say EMOTIONAL EATING????  Saturday not sure what happened but Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream called my name big and bad.  I am weak...

Even with the Epic fail my health has improved!  I was able to clean up the endless mess the dogs make when they get a hold of the garbage AKA compost pile in the living room.  I found the floor!!!!

So fail or not I am back on track but will NOT look at the scale until Friday/Saturday.  I will also measure then as I actually remembered to buy a new tape measure.

Moral of the story:  Just because you 'failed' a day or two doesn't mean you're done!  Keep on juicing!!!!

What I forgot earlier...

After being sick for 2 days I thought I needed a pizza last night so I ordered a small veggie pizza.  When it arrived I decided it really wasn't worth it, but the dogs loved it!

12 days on this program, 30 and beyond should be "a piece of cake"  LOL!

and finally I forgot to mention I am under 200 pounds in the longest time ever!!!!

:))))

Day 12...I think?

So the adventure continues.  This week was not so good.  Started running a temp on Tuesday but felt fine, by shortly after I got to work on Wednesday the nausea hit and then...well I am not going to give TMI here.  So 2 days off work with tea, veggie broth and some water, and no juices probably did not help my adventure.

In the past I may have just given up but not now I am doing way too good and patting myself on the back.  Everyday I thank Dr. Terry Wahls and Joe Cross for leading me on this journey.

It is wonderful to know that I have shared this information with others who are currently or soon will be embarking on this journey to health!  For those who have not yet viewed the movie "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" I advise it.  You can view it on HULU for free.

So this week I have lost another.... 6 pounds!!!! Woohoo!  Though I liked the scale at work that put me down 16.3 pounds I will not cheat.  My scale is *only* down a total of  13.2 pounds in 12 days.  How awesome is that???

Until next time... keep or start juicing it may just save your life!!!

Tuesday, Day 8

So, day 8 and I made it through the long weekend unscathed!  Made a wonderful veggie soup with extra garlic, onions and some green chili's, yum!  This will be frozen for future meals as I always make enough to feed a "crew".

Green Juice is growing on me, though it definitely makes many of by co-workers sick to see it!  LOL, for those in the medical profession think of colostomy bags or C-diff.

Skeptics should know that the scale is still moving downward and my energy is so much improved.  Still have not found the darn measuring tape nor bought a new one...tomorrow if I remember!

My doc's at work expressed concern today as I am on a blood pressure medication that makes you tend to hold onto potassium, which can be a very bad thing while eating so many fruits and veggies, so I will schedule my primary care appointment.

All in all this is going very well.  I hope to have my daughter take some (kind of) before pics and more along the line to chronicle my journey.  The pics won't be pleasant so have a puke bucket nearby!!!!

Later!

Temptations and hurdles

One week ago today I started my quest.  Believe me this is the longest I have lasted without caving in and those darn food commercials were really getting to me last night but I remained strong.

I made it through my first weekend of no fast food deliveries, do you suppose my delivery people miss me?  LOL!  The dogs miss their wings too but they can stand a little healthier diet too :)

No work today so I will make my trip to the Coop for more fresh veggies and fruit.  I am going to make some home made veggie soup and of course "Mean Green".  Shanna tried a taste of the mean green yesterday and I wish I would have had a camera for her facial expressions...priceless...but it does grow on you.

Definitely noticing increased energy...got a bit of house cleaning done over the weekend.  Less pain = more gain!  Now if the darn dogs would just stop destroying what I accomplish I would be a happy girl!

Off to make my list and get this day going!

Remember plant based diet and juicing can do it for you too!

SHAZAM!!!

Day 5 and drum-roll please... I am down 7.2 pounds!!!!  Doing the Happy Dance!

Today I did not even notice the bacon smell as I got to work with mean green in hand.  I drank my juice and water and made the inevitable bathroom journeys... :)  Though around 1 or 2 I kept smelling garlic...made me hungry for sure...drank some more water.

I also deal with Fibro, stress, anxiety and depression and this is the first week in a long time I have made it all 5 days without needing a break...simply miraculous! I also hurt less than normal which is fantabulous!!!!

That said I am going to continue this journey with around 90 pounds to lose.  BUT it is not only the weight, but the overall improvement in my physical and mental condition which spurs me on!!!

Happy Juicing!

Juicing Day 4 a journey to health

Day 4:  Work was busy and I did not get enough water, not good. For juice today I mixed the rest of the mean green from Tuesday and the rest of the fantastic drink (really should name it) from Wednesday which made 32 oz. total.  Felt hungrier today likely due to my decreased consumption of both juice and water.

Even while stress at work tried to consume me I am calmer yet have more energy!  The co-workers were disappointed I didn't make a new juice for taste testing...they may have to buy a juicer and try it for themselves!

I don't know if I mentioned that I watched another video Forks over knifes on Amazon.com that speaks more about a plant based lifestyle.  I recommend it!

Can't find the tape measure and am out of celery which is a disaster!  Time to hit the store again, but this weather is horrible so will do without celery for tomorrows juice.

I did have turnips last night for supper, another YUM.

Saying a fond farewell to some of my closest friends:  Papa Johns Pizza and wings, Sparti's Gyro's bacon cheeseburgers and broccoli cheese bites ( well and all my Greek fav's) and Pizza Pits Southwestern chicken sub with extra cheese and chicken....: (    I miss you and BACON!!!

Tomorrow is another day towards a healthier me!

Day 3 trial and error

On day 2 I made my version of the "Mean Green Juice" needed another apple but I did it and as reported in the video you will be in the bathroom in 30 minutes so plan for this! :)  Apparently this doesn't happen to those who have had a semi-healthy diet...

Last night I decided I needed food.  Instead of going to my online menu which has been my mainstay I steamed some broccoli and had a cup of Miso soup, yummy!  I then made a fantastic new juice (because I love experimenting).
2 granny smith apples
2 pears
1 small lemon
Strawberries, about 1 pint
1/2 a bag of baby spinach
2 carrots
1 cucumber
4 stalks of celery
Way yummy and it made 64 oz.  Taste tester at work today loved it.  Certainly needs more greens and I will work on that.

I am amazed that other than a headache from caffeine  withdrawal I feel really energized.  Of course being a night nurse for many years I am weaning myself off of the coffee but it is still killing me! :)  I really don't feel hungry but hate it when I go to work in the morning and the first thing I smell is bacon....my ultimate downfall!

I haven't weighed again and don't plan to until Friday or Saturday.  Time to put a new battery in the scale and find the pesky measuring tape that I hope will become my new bestie!

Don't forget your water!  I will try to attach Joe Cross's video on making mean green here, but don't expect miracles!

About me

Yada yada yada...you have all heard this and been there before.  I have been there about a million times...I want to lose weight, get healthy, whatever...  But what are we doing about it?  Well we are trying.  I have lost weight before with WW and was happy as a clam but it all came back bigger and badder...not their fault...I can only blame myself.

I have gained and lost weight over the years and found myself at my all time highest...211.8 at 5'2" and 53 years old.  My knees and back hurt, I am short of breath easily and I generally feel like crap.  I have no clothes that fit so I won't go anywhere...what's a fat girl to do?

A few weeks ago I found the video "Fat, Sick and nearly dead"  What an eye opener!  Not that my eyes hadn't been opened earlier by Dr. Terry Wahl's book "Minding my Mitochondria".  Guess I wasn't quite ready yet, but you should check out her Facebook page and her book!

So I decided to start juicing.  Day 1 I made an awesome juice and unfortunately did not write down the ingredients.  Did one more day and fell off the wagon...sound familiar?

So I am going to call it a night now and will fill you all in on what happened next tomorrow! :)
